Reduction en masse can be treated using pure laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal hernioplasty following early CT diagnosis: report of a case

چکیده
Reduction en masse refers to the rare occurrence of an incarcerated inguinal hernia arising from the manual reduction of a hernia. Such a condition constitutes a medical emergency because the hernia contents, such as the small bowel, remain strangulated in the preperitoneal space. Therefore, an early and accurate diagnosis, with early treatment, is important. A 61-year-old Japanese man presented with an irreducible lump over his left groin, leading to the reduction of an incarcerated inguinal hernia by a doctor at another hospital. Later, he was admitted to our hospital with vomiting and abdominal pain. Computed tomography showed a ball-like lesion containing an incarcerated bowel loop over his left pelvis. The patient was diagnosed with an incarcerated small bowel obstruction due to a reduction en masse; a laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) hernioplasty was performed. TAPP hernioplasty is a safe method for treating reductions en masse that allows confirmation of bowel viability.

Simultaneous laparoscopic cholecystectomy and transabdominal preperitoneal hernioplasty: two case reports evaluate the safety and surgical complications
The safety of combining transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) hernioplasty and cholecystectomy in one laparoscopic surgery is still for many years questionable. We report two cases describing the safety and discussing the main concerns regarding the complications. As there are only few cases discuss this kind of combination, we aim to further clarify this subject to provide the best practice for ...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Transabdominal Preperitoneal Repair of Spigelian Hernia
BACKGROUND A Spigelian hernia is a congenital defect in the transversus aponeurosis fascia. Traditionally, an anterior hernioplasty was used to repair these defects. This study aimed to document our experience with laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal repair for Spigelian hernia. METHODS Eight patients underwent laparoscopic transabdominal Spigelian hernia repair. All patients underwent ...
متن کاملInitial experience of single port laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernia repair: nearly-scarless inguinal hernia repair
PURPOSE In the early 1990's laparoscopic hernioplasty gained popularity worldwide. Thereafter, laparoscopic surgeons have attempted to improve cosmesis using single port surgery. This study aims to introduce and assess the safety and feasibility of single port laparoscopic total extraperitoneal (TEP) hernia repair with a nearly-scarless umbilical incision. METHODS Sixty three single port lapa...

INTRODUCTION The inguinal hernia repair has been a controversial area in the surgical practice ever since it has been conceived. The fact that numerous different procedures are in use reflects the complexity of inguinal hernia and its repair. AIM The purposes of this study were to describe Dulucq's technique and the modifications of using 3-D mesh in laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal ingui...
متن کاملRobotic Transabdominal Preperitoneal Repair of Bilateral Arcuate Line Hernias
Arcuate line hernias (ALH) are uncommon defects with poorly understood etiology and only a few published reports in regard of diagnosis and repair. Prevalence is unknown because it is frequently misdiagnosed, rarely symptomatic, and, therefore, even more rarely surgically intervened. The authors present a case of a 51-year-old woman who presented to the emergency department with chronic diffuse...
